Tomorrow.io Platform Map Layers: Visualization of Weather Parameters

The interactive map in the Tomorrow.io platform displays a wide variety of weather data layers to help you monitor, plan, and respond in real time or forecasted windows. Map layers are grouped into two categories:

Active Severe Weather Events
Real-time alerts from official sources (e.g., NWS) for the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Dynamic Wind
Displays live wind direction and speed across the globe.

Precipitation
Real-time visualization of rain, snow, and freezing rain at high resolution.

Precipitation Accumulation
Shows total accumulated precipitation over a chosen period.

Radar + Satellite
Composite imagery updated every 5 minutes, combining radar and satellite data.

Thunderstorm Probability
Displays likelihood of thunderstorms based on predictive modeling.

Tropical Cyclones
Tracks active cyclonic activity globally with storm path and cone projections.

These advanced layers require a premium subscription or specific package:

Active Fires and Fire Index
Highlights wildfire-prone zones and active fires worldwide.

Air Quality
Monitors levels of pollutants such as PM2.5 and ozone.

Aviation
Adds airport weather conditions, flight tracking, and alert layers for aviation operations.

Flood Index
Forecasts flood potential based on rainfall, runoff, and terrain modeling.

Hail
Forecasts hail probability and expected size to support severe weather response.

Lightning
Displays cloud-to-ground and intra-cloud lightning threats up to 30 minutes ahead.

Lightning Nowcast (NextGen™)
Short-range lightning strike probability forecast (up to 1 hour) using NextGen™ modeling.

Maritime
Includes wave height, sea surface temperature, and marine wind insights for shipping and coastal planning.

Soil Conditions
Visualizes soil moisture and temperature levels for environmental and agricultural monitoring.

Solar Radiation
Displays incoming solar energy to support solar power planning and exposure safety.

Surface Fronts
Visualizes frontal boundaries like cold fronts or warm fronts from weather models.

Transportation
Displays fleet vehicle positions and road weather risks for operational visibility.
