A Guide to Insights, Dashboards and Monitoring

Insights

Insights are customized weather thresholds created within the Tomorrow.io platform that are crucial for your operations. These can include weather protocols and company guidelines. Insights can be tagged based on various criteria such as region, parameter, severity, and type.

Once you've set up your Insights, you'll need to apply them to one or more locations already configured in the system. You can do this from the Locations tab in the menu. Here are two ways to apply Insights:

Using the Locations Tab:

• Select the desired locations.
• Open the "Edit Insights" option.
• Select the relevant Insights and apply them.

Directly from a Location:

• Click on the desired location.
• Click the "Add Insights" button.
• Select the relevant Insights and click "Add".

Dashboards

Dashboards are the result of connecting Insights to locations. This view allows end users to see when relevant weather conditions are forecasted for saved locations. Our system continuously scans these locations, searching for the triggering weather thresholds.

When specific conditions are met at the monitored locations, an Insight will appear on the dashboard view.

To access the dashboard, click on the Dashboards icon in the menu:

• Investigate feature: Allows you to get a detailed view of the data behind any Insight event to help you make informed decisions.

• Detailed Graph View: The screen displays a graph of all parameters used in the Insight, with highlighted areas showing when the Insight is triggered.

• Interactive Time Frames: You can navigate through the hourly graph or switch to a minutely view for the first 6 hours for more granular data.
• Threshold Visibility: Your Insight thresholds will be visible, showing less than, greater than, or between operators.
• Polygon Impact Monitoring: This feature provides an indication of the maximum percentage of the polygon, over the duration of the insight event, that is expected to be impacted by the insight conditions and is available to all customers monitoring polygon or polyline locations.

• Probability View: NextGen™ customers can toggle on a probability view on top of the investigation mode for additional context.
• Insight Rule Probability: Availble for NextGen™ customers, the Insight Rule Probability displays the likelihood of weather impacts.

*Note that only admin users can add or modify insights and dashboards
