Gale is Tomorrow.io’s AI-powered weather agent, designed to support operational workflows with actionable, real-time weather insights.


Accessing Gale

You can interact with Gale from multiple points in the platform:

  • Press Command + K (or Ctrl + K on Windows), then select “Ask Gale”
  • Click the Gale icon within the Tomorrow.io platform
  • Use the "Ask Gale" option at the top of any platform page

Limited Gale Access

Gale is available to all accounts with a usage-based access model:

  • Interaction quotas: Each account has a capped number of Gale interactions.
  • View quota: Usage and remaining quota appear in Gale and in Account Settings.
  • Upgrade flow: When the quota is used up, Gale access is paused with prompts for upgrading.
  • For pricing or higher usage plans, please contact your Account Team.

How Gale Works 

Gale is a conversational assistant that uses real-time weather data and, when configured, account-specific context to tailor responses and recommendations.

Core Capabilities 

  • Create locations and insights, including industry-based suggestions 
  • Generate reports based on locations or views 
  • Create monitors from existing insights and saved locations 
  • Log operational decisions based on insights or summaries 
  • Answer timeline-based weather questions (e.g., next 12 hours) 
  • Summarize impacted locations using configured views 
  • Provide severe weather information (U.S. only)
  • Provide industry-specific, context-aware responses based on your organization’s vertical (see dedicated section for more information)
  • Search and summarize relevant Help Center content

Industry-Specific Agents

Gale supports industry-specific agents, tailoring responses and workflows to your organization’s vertical.

  • Align insights and actions with industry-specific use cases
  • Adapt responses based on operational context and priorities
  • Include industry-relevant prompts and capabilities

Getting Started: Setting Up Account Context

Admins can add organization-specific context to guide Gale’s responses and recommendations.

While Industry Agents define the overall vertical experience, Account Context allows you to customize Gale with your organization’s specific operations, preferences, and priorities.

Examples include:

  • Operating procedures
  • Industry focus
  • Operational history
  • Language preferences and priorities

This information is used to tailor responses, summaries, and suggested actions, and may be referenced where relevant.

Note: Only available to admins on Gale-enabled accounts.

Onboarding Flow

Gale includes a guided onboarding flow for users without configured monitors.

Once complete, Gale returns to standard assistant mode.


Available Actions

Report creation is available to users with access to the Reports package.

Gale supports several operational actions triggered through conversation:

Example Queries

  • "Help me create a new location in Arizona"
  • "Create a report for Chicago"
  • "Log a decision for the snow response at our Denver warehouse"
  • “Show me all SIGMETs impacting my area”
  • “Is there volcanic ash near our operations in Mexico City?”

Predefined Queries (Example Questions)

Teams can configure a list of standardized queries under the Example Questions section of the Gale interface.

Admins can contact their Tomorrow.io Account Manager or email support@tomorrow.io to define and deploy organization-specific queries.


Severe Weather Alerts (U.S. Only)

Example severe weather queries:

  • "Are there any severe weather alerts for Chicago today?"
  • "Will there be thunderstorms in San Francisco this weekend?"
  • "What’s the flood risk in New Orleans in the next 24 hours?"
  • "Is hail likely in Dallas this afternoon?"

Coverage limited to U.S. alerts.


Current Limitations

Gale does not currently support:

  • Long-range climate trend queries
  • Historical weather data (use platform widgets or internal tools)
  • File uploads for context
  • Insight or report customization via prompt (editing available post-creation)

Only admins can manage account-level context and predefined questions.
