Overview
The County Risk Map allows users to track hazardous weather conditions by U.S. county, enabling a structured, location-based risk assessment approach. This supports decision-making for field operations, logistics, public safety, and more.
How It Works
- Coverage: All U.S. counties, with support for creating filtered subviews by state or operational zone
- Forecast Range: Real-time + forecast up to 4.5 days ahead
- Delivery Options: Visualized in the platform and available via email digest reports
- Alert Source: Based on NWS alerts and Tomorrow.io risk thresholds
Supported Hazards
The County Risk Map tracks and visualizes the following impactful weather types:
- Extreme heat or cold
- Heavy precipitation (rain, snow, or hail)
- Icy conditions
- Strong winds
- Fog
- Flood risk
Each county is color-coded by risk severity based on configured thresholds.
Platform Access
The County Risk Map can be accessed and used in two primary areas of the platform:
Map View
- Navigate to the Map View
- Enable the County Risk Map layer from the layer menu
- Use the altitude and timeline controls as needed
- Apply filters or zoom to specific regions for focused monitoring
- Hover or click on a county to view current and forecasted risk status
Insights Dashboard
- Navigate to the Insights tab
- Use the Subviews feature to create state- or region-specific dashboards
- Monitor real-time and forecasted county-level weather conditions across your operational footprint
- Set up email digests to receive automated reports based on risk triggers in selected counties
