The Organizational Settings section in the Tomorrow.io platform helps administrators manage users, groups, permissions, and account preferences. It includes four main tabs:
- Settings
- Users
- Groups
- Plan Details
Settings
Control key preferences for your organization:
-
Let users join groups without admin approval
When enabled, users can self-enroll into pre-configured groups without needing admin approval.
This is especially useful for self-service access to specific alerts or datasets. -
Notifications
Set organization-wide default preferences for email, SMS, and in-app alerts.
Users
Manage who is part of your organization and assign appropriate access levels. Each user role has different permissions within the Tomorrow.io platform:
User Roles
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to all platform features and settings. Admins can create insights and alerts, add or remove locations, invite users, and modify roles. |
| Standard | Can view dashboards, insights, alerts, and trends, but cannot make changes to platform configuration or user management. |
| Developer | Intended for technical users who need API access. Has limited dashboard visibility and no admin privileges. |
| Notification | Can receive email and/or SMS alerts but cannot log into or view the platform interface. |
⚠️ Only Admin users can invite, remove, or modify other users and their roles.
Groups
Use groups to organize users by location, department, or operational function.
- Simplifies alert distribution, dashboard (email digest) and weather reports sharing, and team-based collaboration.
- Standard users can assign themselves to groups (if enabled by an admin) — reducing administrative workload.
Self-Service Group Enrollment (Optional)
Admins can allow users to manage their own group membership:
- Enable it from: Organization Settings → Settings tab (default: off)
- Users can manage groups from: Personal Settings → Groups tab
- Admins still manage group creation and visibility from the Organization Settings → Groups tab
Set Notifications for User Groups
Admins can configure notification schedules and delivery preferences for each user group.
This ensures that each operational team receives weather alerts and updates at the most relevant times — improving focus and reducing alert fatigue.
How It Works:
Go to Organization Settings → Groups.
Select a group and click the ⋮ (More) menu.
Choose Set Notification Schedule.
Define preferred delivery times (e.g., during shift hours) and select the group’s time zone.
Save changes — all alerts and notifications sent to that group will now follow this schedule.
Note: This setting only affects standard alerts and notifications.
Note: Critical alerts, such as severe weather or urgent operational updates, are always sent immediately and bypass group schedules.
Note: Group-level schedules override the organization default but do not affect email digests or report deliveries.
