Data Sources

This dual-sourced approach ensures accurate, comprehensive coverage for tropical cyclone tracking across all ocean basins.

Visualizing Cyclones on the Platform

The Tropical Cyclone layer displays:

  • Official forecast tracks and cones of uncertainty
  • Past storm tracks
  • Intensity forecasts
  • Key storm metrics, including:
    • Maximum sustained wind speeds
    • Gusts
    • Sea level pressure
    • Storm movement speed and direction

Use this layer to understand where tropical cyclones may impact operations or assets—either along the track or within the uncertainty cone.

Wind Swath Visualization (Premium)

The wind swath depicts areas expected to experience sustained winds of:

  • 34 knots (tropical storm-force)
  • 50 knots
  • 64 knots (hurricane-force)

Swaths are based on NHC forecasts and extend up to 5 days (120 hours) from the latest advisory.
