Flight Schedule Visibility

Coverage: Currently available for airports in the United States using FAA SWIM data.

How It Works

  • Enable the Layer: Use the map view controls to toggle on the Flight Layer.

  • Save Airport Locations: Ensure airports of interest are saved using the Airport Layer to activate flight visibility.

What You'll See

  • Impact Indicators: Airports will display one to three dots representing the number of impacted flights based on weather insights.

  • Flight Details: Hover over a dot to preview impacted flights. Click to open a side panel with detailed takeoff and landing information.

Additional Notes

  • Recommended View: Use the Day view for the most accurate and granular detail.

  • Calendar Events Integration: Integrate with your Calendar Events to layer additional operational context.

Flight Schedules via API (International Support, Private Feed)

Customers operating outside the United States can integrate international flight schedules directly into their dashboard using the Flight Schedules API.

  • Designed for aviation operations outside the FAA coverage area.

  • Enables tracking of takeoffs and landings in the same dashboard view.

  • Supports insight triggering and dashboard synchronization.

Refer to the API documentation for setup guidance or reach out to your Account Team.

Flight Routes and Weather Monitoring

Flight Route Visualization

Flight route displays can be enabled to show real-time flight paths on the map, supporting situational awareness and dispatch coordination.

Capabilities

  • Based on origin/destination data from the saved airport layers.

  • Available for all dashboard-integrated flights.

  • Custom airline data can also be infused into the platform based on customer request. Contact your Account Team for more information.

Insights on Routes

Tomorrow.io supports real-time weather monitoring directly along flight routes, allowing teams to understand where and when weather may disrupt operations.

Key Capabilities

  • Visualize risks across departure, arrival, and en-route segments.

  • Supported for aviation, logistics, and maritime use cases.

  • Customizable insights detect conditions such as thunderstorms, strong winds, or flooding.

  • Users can view active route insights on the map for immediate awareness.

How to Access

  • Routes must be ingested into the platform via the Route Ingest API.

  • Monitors are configured by Tomorrow.io in the backend, following collaboration with the customer to align on their operational needs and monitoring goals.

Current Limitations

  • Route monitoring setup is currently handled by Tomorrow.io (not yet self-service).
  • Once active, route insights can be viewed on the map but can’t yet be customized or edited in the platform.
  • A dedicated dashboard view for route insights is planned for a future release.

Monitoring Flights as Assets

Flights can also be monitored as part of asset feeds, enabling a unified operational view across fleets and routes.

When flight data is ingested as an asset feed, teams can monitor and analyze flights alongside other operational assets within the platform.

Key capabilities

  • View all flights in a centralized dashboard grouped by feed
  • Automatically identify flights impacted by weather conditions
  • Prioritize operations based on forecasted impact, severity, and timing
  • Manage monitoring at the fleet or feed level, without configuring alerts per flight

Using the Insights Dashboard for Flights

The Insights Dashboard provides a prioritized view of all monitored flights, helping teams quickly identify where attention is required.

Instead of manually reviewing routes or maps, the dashboard:

  • Surfaces flights crossing defined impact thresholds
  • Sorts flights by severity and time window
  • Highlights operational risks across the full flight schedule

This enables dispatchers to focus on the most critical flights first.

Notes

Flight monitoring via asset feeds requires flights to be ingested into the platform as an asset feed.

3D Flight Analysis

3D Flight Analysis extends route monitoring by adding vertical and spatial context, helping teams better understand how weather impacts flights in real-world conditions.

These capabilities allow dispatchers and operations teams to evaluate not only where weather occurs, but also how it affects flights at different altitudes and along the route.

3D Flight Monitoring

3D Flight Monitoring provides a vertical cross-section of each route, helping users understand weather impacts at altitude, not just on a 2D map.

Key Capabilities

  • Display flight altitude vs. forecast time along the route
  • Highlight where weather intersects the flight path
  • Combine Insights and SIGMETs for full situational context
  • Support informed decisions on altitude adjustments and rerouting

3D Map Visualization & Pilot View

3D Map Visualization enables supported weather layers to be viewed in three dimensions when the map is tilted, adding depth and spatial awareness to flight operations.

Pilot View simulates the pilot’s perspective along the flight route, helping teams better understand in-flight conditions and align decisions between air and ground operations.

Key Capabilities

  • Visualize weather layers and events in 3D along flight routes
  • Assess vertical structure and spatial relationships of weather conditions
  • Simulate real-world flight conditions from the pilot’s perspective
  • Improve coordination between dispatch and flight crews
