How does Tomorrow.io measure windSpeed?

Tomorrow.io's nowcast shows a blend of observation and calculated winds based on the proprietary ensemble of weather models depending on what's available for the area (i.e. CONUS vs Globe).

I'm finding the windSpeed data to be completely off.  Using the tomorrow api to fetch current windSpeed for a location gives a completely different reading to reality.  I've tried this with multiple locations, even with the example location provdied, ie. Toronto, the windSpeed data is not correct.  Even if you just Google the windSpeed for a location you will arrive at a more accurate reading than that provided by tomorrow.io.    Not sure what is going wrong as other data such as temperature, UV, etc. are correct.
