Tomorrow.io now supports the visualization of Custom Vector Events (CVEs) directly on the map. This allows users to instantly see high-impact weather and operational events from either public or private data feeds—no custom configuration required.

When to Use CVE Visualization

Use CVEs in the platform to:

  • Display custom or premium weather event layers on the map
  • View affected areas and asset overlap visually, in real-time
  • Enable fast situational awareness without building your own data pipelines
  • Explore feed-specific insight details directly from the map

What It Does

CVEs appear as interactive polygons on the map, drawn from pre-integrated vector feeds. When you click a CVE event, the side panel opens with detailed information, including:

  • Feed name and description
  • Severity and tags (if available)
  • Linked insight (with name and description)
  • Edit Insight option (if permissions allow)

CVEs are categorized into two types:

  • Private CVE Feeds: Custom feeds configured for your account. Included at no additional cost.
  • Public CVE Feeds: Curated feeds offered as premium data layers. For pricing, contact your Tomorrow.io Account Team.

Key Features

  • Direct Map Integration: Toggle CVE layers from the Advanced Weather Overlays menu.
  • Tooltip Descriptions: Hovering over a feed name displays its description.
  • Grouped Layers: Private and public CVE feeds are clearly separated in the menu.
  • Live Timeline Support: Events update dynamically based on the selected time.
  • Insight Linkage: Some events may be associated with insights, accessible via the side panel.

Note: CVE layers do not support alerting or monitoring in this phase.

How to Access

  1. Go to the Map page in the platform.
  2. Expand the Advanced Weather Overlays icon.
  3. Scroll to the Custom Vector Events section.
  4. Toggle any CVE feed to visualize its events on the map.
  5. Click any polygon to view event details in the side panel.

Limitations

  • Altitude filtering is not supported for CVEs.
  • You cannot view which specific feeds power each insight directly (a tag may appear).
  • Monitoring or alerting on CVEs is not available.
