Gale Met Agent Mode is an advanced configuration of Tomorrow.io’s AI assistant that provides expert-level meteorological reasoning and access to detailed forecast data. It is designed for professional users who require scientifically grounded analysis, model comparisons, and technical explanations within a conversational workflow.

🔒 This is a premium feature. To learn more or request access, contact your Tomorrow.io Account Manager or email sales@tomorrow.io

When to Use Met Agent Mode

Use Met Agent Mode when you need:

  • Deeper meteorological context or validation behind a forecast
  • Access to aviation-specific data such as METAR and TAF
  • Multi-model comparisons to understand forecast confidence
  • Explanations of atmospheric setups (e.g., convection, wind shear, pressure gradients)

Capabilities

When active, Met Agent Mode can:

  • Retrieve and summarize METAR (observations) and TAF (terminal forecasts)
  • Compare multiple forecast models (e.g., ECMWF, GFS, Tomorrow.io models)
  • Explain model agreement or divergence and provide confidence guidance
  • Present structured outputs (tables, timelines, reasoned summaries) for expert review

How to Access

  1. Open Gale in the Tomorrow.io platform.
  2. Select Met Agent Mode from the assistant options (visible to licensed accounts).
  3. Ask your question in natural language; Gale will respond using expert data sources and reasoning.

Note: Gale may automatically route advanced meteorological queries through Met Agent Mode when appropriate.

Example Queries

  • “Compare ECMWF and GFS precipitation forecasts for Tokyo over the next 48 hours.”
  • “Show model agreement for wind shear near JFK.”
  • “Retrieve the latest METAR and TAF for London Heathrow.”
  • “Explain the atmospheric setup causing heavy rainfall in Manila.”
  • “Summarize model TAF differences for Los Angeles.”

Data Sources

  • METAR / TAF (official aeronautical observations and forecasts)
  • Model TAF (available with additional licensing)
  • Numerical Weather Prediction (global and regional models)
  • Tomorrow.io proprietary models for localized, high-resolution guidance

Notes and Limitations

  • Some datasets (e.g., Model TAF, ensemble variance) may require additional permissions
  • Responses may include technical terms and structured data intended for professional interpretation
