Tomorrow.io’s AI-TAF solution provides enhanced aviation forecast coverage by combining authoritative data with AI-generated fallback TAFs, helping ensure continuous decision-making even when government-issued forecasts are missing.
What Is AI-TAF?
AI-TAF is a machine-generated Terminal Aerodrome Forecast that complements official aviation weather data. It is designed to solve a key operational challenge: missing or unavailable government-issued TAFs.
When a government TAF is present, Tomorrow.io surfaces that forecast.
If a TAF is missing for a given aerodrome, the platform automatically generates an AI-based forecast using proprietary models and vetted by internal meteorologists.
Key Features
Seamless fallback support: Automatically delivers a model-generated TAF when an official one is missing.
Full METAR/TAF support: Combines live METARs with either official or fallback TAFs in one API response.
Advanced element logic: Forecasts include visibility, ceiling, wind, weather phenomena, and other operationally critical elements.
Validated and trusted: Used internally and developed in collaboration with aviation partners such as Lufthansa.
Availability
API Only (current) – Available via Tomorrow.io’s aviation forecast endpoints.
