The Pollen Layer helps you monitor and assess airborne pollen levels across a given region. It is especially useful for users in healthcare, agriculture, event planning, and operational teams managing allergy-related risk or environmental exposure.
🔒 This is a premium feature. For access, please contact your Tomorrow.io account team or sales@tomorrow.io.
What the Pollen Layer Shows
The Pollen Layer provides both real-time and forecasted pollen data based on advanced modeling techniques. It is primarily focused on tree pollen, but also contributes to broader allergen awareness.
The Pollen Layer includes several index fields representing different pollen sources. Each index reflects the estimated concentration of airborne particles in a given area, based on grains per cubic meter (grains/m³). All indices follow the same 0–5 scale:
Available Index Fields
treeIndex
– Tree pollen concentration
grassIndex
– Grass pollen concentration
weedIndex
– Weed pollen concentration
ragweedIndex
– Ragweed pollen concentration

Localized Forecasting
Data is generated using a combination of statistical, physical, and chemical models to reflect highly localized pollen behavior.

- Go to the Map Layers menu
- Enable the Pollen layer
- Use the timeline to explore pollen levels for your selected area and timeframe
This allows you to easily visualize airborne pollen exposure across operational regions.
Via the Tomorrow.io API
- Query the fields in your API call to retrieve structured pollen data.
- Use filters and time ranges to analyze historical or forecasted exposure.
For more information on using the Pollen Data Layer or integrating it with your application, refer to our API documentation, or use the AI-powered smart search feature in the docs for specific details. Users can simply enter a free-text query, similar to interacting with an AI assistant, to ask questions and find the information they need with ease.
Additionally, our customized API assistant simplifies the process by guiding you through building queries or accessing specific weather data.
