Volcanic Ash (Aviation, Premium Layer)

The Volcanic Ash Advisory Layer displays real-time alerts from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centers (VAACs), supporting flight operations impacted by volcanic ash. This data is especially relevant for aviation users operating in regions prone to volcanic activity and airspace disruptions.

What It Shows

• Global volcanic ash advisories with forecast polygons

  • VAAC-issued data includes:

    • Ash source location

    • Affected flight levels and regions

    • Forecast dispersion tracks

  • All advisories are visualized on the map with additional bulletin text shown in the side panel

Accessing Volcanic Ash Data on the Platform

1. Log into your Tomorrow.io account

2. Navigate to Map View

3. Toggle on the Volcanic Ash layer

4. Click on any advisory shape to open the side panel, which provides full VAAC bulletin details and ash dispersion information

VAAC Area Coverage

This layer includes data from all 9 VAACs:

• Washington

• London

• Toulouse

• Darwin

• Tokyo

• Wellington

• Anchorage

• Montreal

• Buenos Aires

Coverage is global and updated in real-time as new advisories are issued.
